The Cottons Medical Centre

The doctors and staff at the Cottons Medical Centre in Raunds are proud to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare.  

The practice has been serving the people of Raunds and the surrounding areas for many years. Over 10,000 patients are currently registered.

We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes and offer a wide variety of other medical services.

In addition to everything you need to know about the practice you will also find a wealth of health-related information in the menu on the right hand side.

                               COVID 19 – VACCINATION UPDATE 19/07/2021

NHS Covid-19 vaccination programme has started.  This will not be taking place at The Cottons Surgery. Other sites have been selected by the Nene CCG. These sites will be Harborough Fields Surgery & Nene Valley Surgery.

When it is the right time people will receive an invitation to come forward.

For most people this will be a text of call from either your GP or Nene Valley Surgery (Thrapston) or the national NHS. This letter will include all the information you will need to book appointments, including your NHS number.

If you haven't been contacted you can book either via online at the gov website or by calling 119.

Information on the vaccine is available on the NHS.UK website.

Coronavirus Update

As you will be aware COVID-19 is still a serious on-going concern and residents living in Northamptonshire are presently at increased risk as there is a significant increase in numbers of positive cases in the county.

We all have a role to play in protecting ourselves and others by minimising social contact, keeping a safe distance from others, washing hands regularly and wearing face coverings in enclosed public spaces and on public transport.

We are asking for your continued support going forward as we continue to ensure the safety of our patients and staff. Our surgery doors are open, which has opened our waiting room so that we can have a maximum of 10 people waiting at anyone time.

We will continue to offer appointments for childhood immunisations, cervical smears, dressings, vaccinations and emergency treatment room procedures. If you need regular blood pressure monitoring we would ask that you consider using a home blood pressure monitor and ring the surgery with the results as necessary. We are able to text or email sick notes and can send blood test request forms electronically to phlebotomy services. This minimises the handling of paperwork and means you do not need to attend the surgery. If you are asked to attend the surgery please remember to wear a face covering, this does not need to be a surgical mask.

All our clinical staff are wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate to their role and have allocated time between appointments to ensure all treatments areas are thoroughly cleaned in accordance with infection control guidance for your safety and protection.

Can all patients attending 'The Cottons Medical Centre' please where a face covering when attending. This can be a mask or a loose scarf to protect yourself and others.

If you have an appointment then please follow the signs and wait for reception to be available to book you in and then take a seat.

With the new guidelines around 'Face Masks' that come into force on the 24th July 2020 we shall not be providing any exemption letters. Please see the latest guidance on the link below.

Check symptoms - with a clinically approved symptom checker

Get directed to the right treatment - whether a doctor, emergency care, a nurse or other

Book an appointment at your GP surgery - if your symptoms mean you need to see a clinician

We aim to provide our patients with the most suitable healthcare advice, to help you share your symptoms with your GP/nurse, and to avoid lengthy telephone wait times if you need to request an appointment.
